Botanical Explorations + Forgotten Material: Dr PH Martins Radiant Water Colors
Trying to loosen up my practice by stepping outside my comfort zone
Experiments! I never seem to have enough time for them, but I’ve tried my best to find pockets of time to do this small project. By the way, it took me about a month to finish these, haha.
Trying out different materials and even holding your pencils differently allows for more variation in your work, and who knows, maybe you stumble upon something great.
So I decided to grant myself an hour or three to explore watercolour paired with more detailed pencilwork and film the process for you. I love the looseness of watercolour, but I also don’t want to let go of the scratchy sound my pencils make, so why not combine them?
In the video, you see me doing a wet-on-wet technique, using wet materials on wet paper. Made me feel like a child again, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I also have no clue how to incorporate this into my “normal” client work, but that’s ok, I’ll either figure it out or keep them separately.
