Hello, fellow autumn enthusiasts!
As the leaves change colors and the air gets crisper, it's clear that autumn has arrived in all its glory. When I was young, I collected chestnuts every autumn and made a spider web with wool and wooden skewers. I dried leaves and made a lantern for St. Martin's Day. Nothing makes me happier than a cup of tea, a rainy day and some autumnal crafting.
And the past few years, I’ve seen posts on Instagram come by about painting pumpkins, and every year I want to join in, and every year I somehow don’t. But this year I did it!
Inspiration
When visiting a pumpkin farm a few weeks ago, I decided I needed only 1 pumpkin and came home with 8. So in the end I ate a lot of soup (and also still need to bake a pie) and then decided it was finally time. Let’s paint.
The full painting process can be watched here on my Patreon.
Behold the results! :)
As this was the first time trying this (and possibly also the last:) it was a lot of trial and error but also a lot of fun. I picked a simple (inedible) white one and two classic orange ones, ended up painting 2 of them and decorating one with pressed flowers. The latter was done in about 3 minutes by the way so if you want an easy pretty fix, skip the painting and go straight for the pressed flowers. I used acrylic paints, waterproof fineliners and neocolor II for the painted pumpkins.
What autumn crafts are you making?
I’d love to know what autumn magic you create this year! Share your pumpkin-painting plans or other creative endeavours in the comments or in my notes and let's celebrate the season together!
