Replay: Botanical Winter Textures

Zooming in and zooming out

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the session!

This session focused on painting and drawing winter textures, starting with cropped images. The cropped images make it easier to focus on the textures, so you have to worry less about shapes and making objects look realistic. It’s all about mark-making and materials, almost making them abstract.

We then zoomed out and painted the whole picture, but not worrying about texture in the whole painting, only in certain areas.

The timings were:
- 2 cropped images 12 minutes
- 3 cropped images 15 minutes
- 3 images, each 15 minutes
