Hi, lovely people!
I hope you all are having a beautiful Summer. My trip to Cornwall is the best (I'll show my sketchbooks later:), and it’s so good to take some time off to create work just for fun.
I’ve been on Substack for a year now ! 🥳🎉
First of all, I want to thank you all for your support ❤️. It means the world to me, and it has fueled me to experiment and go outside of my comfort zone when making art. I also have met wonderful people, and your artwork inspires me:)
After reflecting on my past year on Substack, I've decided to make some changes to enhance our community and improve the content I provide. I really enjoy creating the current content and drawing together with you, and I'm committed to growing this community. But it's essential for me to be able to support myself and my family, and at the moment, the balance is a bit off; I put in lots of dedicated hours, but then I have no time left to promote this Substack or engage with others 😅. And it's such a wonderful community with great people, I'd love it to grow.
So I want to make it more affordable for you and more manageable for me.
Changes - evolving and improving
From September 1st, the paid content for this Substack will be €8,50 a month. The changes in content will hopefully bring a fresh wave of inspiration and creativity to our community.
The free content:
a newsletter every month
possible extra posts containing art prompts or peeks into my work
The Creative Cocoon’s exclusive content (€8,50) :
1 starting post containing inspiration
1 exclusive video
1 zoom session where we draw together
1 exclusive timelapse
possible bonus content
All of the previous paid posts will remain online, and it will be lower in price.
A typical month will look something like this:
WEEK 1= inspiration. I'll post all of the images for our Zoom sessions so you can work with them the whole month. I'll also add inspiration (work from other artists, beautiful things) to the post to spark our creativity
WEEK 2 = exploration. A video from me showing my art process, sketchbook tour, creative exercise, material test etc. Feel free to request something by sending me a message or commenting on a post.
WEEK 3 = drawing together. We have our monthly Zoom call, during which we draw together. At the end, we will share our work (only if you want though), and you will also have the possibility to show your other work from this month if you've used the reference pictures or inspiration.
WEEK 4 = results: a timelapse of either my work from the Zoom session or another artwork with possible comments about the process
BONUS = I'm a 200% person, so I'll probably do more than I say I will:) I might show you some extra work in a photo post or show you a new material, etc. For now I’m planning:
See Me Sketch Sessions:
I will also do a See Me Sketch Session; I'm aiming at once every other month, where I will show my work in real time through my overhead camera. You can either sketch along or relax and watch my process (and ask questions if you have them).
Collaborations
I’d like to collaborate more with other Patreon or Substack creators, and I’m already planning a few Zoom drawing sessions with some lovely people. If you know someone (or are someone:) that would make a great fit with this Substack or who you’d love to see me host a Zoom session with, please let me know.
Sharing our work: I’d also like to see if I can get the chat/threads function a bit livelier, where we can share our work. I might switch to a Miro board or something similar if that’s more practical - if you have any tips I’d love to hear them.
I’m really exited about this refreshing of this Substack, and can’t wait to share my work with you.
If you have any questions (or suggestions for videos/content), please let me know!
Pauline x
PS If you’re also on Patreon and prefer that platform, I’ll be offering the exact same content for my paid members there: https://www.patreon.com/lascarlatte
That photo at the end is incredible! You got some good weather?
