Welcome to another video showing the contents of my messy studio and sketchbooks. If you watched the video 1001 Unfinished sketchbooks, you know that I actually claim to be a very organised person, but having a family messed up my system. Blame it all on them, why don’t I 😄
So, truth time. Did I finish any of my projects? Is the dollhouse completed? Does my mum have her birthday vase? Does my love have his winter scarf? Uhm……no. I DID spend a lot of time with these people and enjoyed it immensely.
Did I start new projects? Well, of course!
For one thing, I want to work in series — a wonderful goal if you live a slightly chaotic life. So I now have three semi-completed works, does that constitute a series? It may be a start, but it’s definitely not a collection yet.
I also started working in the smallest sketchbook I’ve ever used, to create one doodle every day. To be creative in a non-stressful way. The pages feel very restrictive haha. So I don’t manage a doodle every day, but I do on some days. It’s a start.
Although many of my projects are still halfway completed, I don’t beat myself up about it. I’m trying, right? And I’m still inspired to go on. I’m still working on things. I think an art studio might have to be renamed to process studio. Because it’s all process. I’d actually hate for it all to be done, because it’s the process I love most. So I’ll just continue coming up with new ideas and I’ll probably also start 25 of them. And I might finish 5. And that’s just fine.
In this video I’ll show you tons of sketchbooks and also some larger works. And I’ll talk about lots of plans. I might not be very good at organisation at this stage in my life, but I’m good at making plans. Now let’s hope I can stick to them.
