Happy Birthday month Pauline (and lovely to meet you). What if you could find a part time (no more than 2 days a week) job that wasn't taxing on your creativity? (weirdly, I'm thinking cleaning might be ok as its exercise, walk in/walk out, no work to bring home etc.) - could that add energy to the creative practice I wonder? (& bring financial support). I'm a part time high school teacher which is good money but very taxing on my personal creativity (and state of mind). I've had a few months off and its been life changing. Anyway, just some food for thought. May I ask why do you have both Substack and Patreon? Does it make the workload more? With love, Sam 🌻x
Hi Sam, thanks for your kind words. I am constantly thinking if I should take up another part time job 😅 But I also have a 6-year old, and I take care of her a number of afternoons, which already makes my time to work part time (I also try to work at night but I’m always so tired at night…) so if I would take a part time job, being an illustrator and teacher would be over. Making decisions is hard, and I always try to do what feels best, and at the moment I’m still indecisive 😅 The paid posts for Substack are the same as one of the Patreon tiers, so that isn’t a lot more work, but promoting both does of course. I have both because I’m still not sure which platform suits me best. So I’m a bit in limbo, but that’s ok, I’ll make a decision eventually 😄
The reference photos were so great! I created this in a coworking session by Beth and Sarah. It really helped me to find that extra hour needed to create:-)
Happy birthday Pauline! Enjoy a chilled day off from work and worries (although I know the second one is harder to ignore!) And I hope you get that cake baked for you ❤️
The only thing is, I don’t qualify for a ‘normal’/proper job 😅 I’ve been an artist for over 20 years, it’s hard to make changes or let go. My only other talent is singing but that will never make me a living. If only I could earn money by worrying (that would be a job - worrying for other people, it really is my biggest talent), I’d be filthy rich 😬😂
Dear Pauline, It was such a fun your drawing session! Thank you so much and happy birthday!
Thanks so much for being there, everyone’s drawings were so nice! Loved all of the cats and smiling axolotls :-)

Also to say, I love your fox!! I still need to go back to Sarah's session, not enough hours in the day at the moment 😆
